  • Alphonso Purple public testnet is live, and onboarding users to the testnet
  • Infrastructure providers and exchanges on the blockchain network can participate in the ongoing event
  • The HFC event has been scheduled for the end of August or early September

Cardano (ADA) is currently among the top largest cryptocurrencies in terms of market capitalization, as per CoinMarketCap. The blockchain is successfully helping changemakers, innovators, and visionaries to bring positive global transformations. Recently, the blockchain project kicked off its Alonzo Purple public testnet to introduce the Hard Fork Combinator (HFC) event. The update was revealed by the Input-Output HK (IOHK) team. Moreover, Charles Hoskinson, the founder, and CEO of IOHK, has recently revealed the timeline for the ongoing event. Moreover, Hoskinson also discussed onboarding exchanges.

Cardano Alonzo Purple is a milestone event

The Alonzo Purple Public testnet of Cardano was much anticipated by the Cardano community. The phase has begun onboarding users to the tesnet as scheduled. This mark of the phase is the milestone event for the Cardano community since it is going to be the first public testnet of the project to support smart contracts.

According to the IOHK team, it is a significant moment, marking essential milestones in the launch of smart contracts on the Cardano mainnet. The establishment is targeted for the end of August.

Who can join the ongoing testnet event?

IOHK, the research and development firm behind the blockchain project, has revealed the onboarding of users. Indeed, now all the members of the Plutus Pioneer program and each stake pool operator and digital exchanges can participate to join the testnet. Moreover, these members will also provide feedback to the developers about any existing bugs or issues.

According to Hoskinson, based on the provided feeds, the community will come together for a consolidated opinion of the best delivery date based on the upgrade time. Notably, Alonzo Blue and Alonzo White are limited to 50 and 500 users, respectively.

Is optimization necessary?

Hoskinson has discussed optimization issues with the community. According to the Cardano founder, the devs were about to decide what the mainnet candidates are going to be for the HFC event. Hence, following the event, Hoskinson asked the community whether the devs should integrate some optimizations.

Additionally, Hoskinson explained that the candidate node would be sent out if the developers include such optimizations. However, that will be for a short period of time for the testnet. Moreover, such optimizations were expected to provide some additional benefits to the node.

On the other hand, if the optimizations will be ignored this time, they will be included in the next hard fork combinator event. It was also revealed that the next event would be held near the end of this year.

However, Alphonso is in the space to bring smart contacts on the blockchain’s mainnet. The devs are also on the schedule for the HFC event soon.
