Jay Graber has been appointed to lead the team of Bluesky Project. He has worked closely with a group of thinkers and builders of the decentralized social ecosystem. Graber is a software developer for Zcash and blockchain company Skuchain.

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey in 2019 had announced to start the decentralized social media plan which did not take flight then. But it seems that the time has come for them to venture in on their first plan and for this, the preparations have already begun in full swing.

On Monday, Twitter announced that the former software engineer for Zcash and blockchain firm Skuchain, Jay Graber will now be leading the anticipated decentralized social media initiative, which was earlier announced by Twitter.

In a Twitter announcement, Graber said that they would be leading the charge of the Bluesky project after working closely with the group of thinkers and builders from the decentralized social ecosystem. The plan is to start hiring for the Bluesky team and partnering closely with Twitter and other companies as part of the next step in implementing social media decentralization plans.

Content is very crucial

In December 2019, Jack Dorsey had announced that Twitter that a dedicated team will be funded to develop decentralized standards for social media. The company ultimately will be a part of this standard. There are many challenges that social media networks today face. This included centralized enforcement of the global policy to address abuse and misleading information. The focus is thus shifting away from content hosting to the removal of content to recommendation algorithms directing users’ attention and content that generates controversy and hatred, outrage rather than healthy and informative information.

Dorsey believes that with the emerging new technologies, a decentralized approach will make more sense. Blockchain technology aims to provide a series of decentralized solutions for open and reliable custody, management and even monetization.

Dorsey is very excited about the appointment of Graber who will be leading the Bluesky and said that it would allow moving much faster and through code. Dorsey in June had given a hint when he said that he was planning to integrate Bitcoin’s Lightning Network sidechain with at least one of his businesses. However, he did not specify whether it was Bluesky.

Dan Held, Growth Lead in Kraken and Muneeb Ali, Co-founder of Stacks have also supported Graber in this new venture.
