OTOY’s Render Network is making headlines as of late since it was revealed that it planning on rendering Solana’s SOL metaverse.
OTOY’s Founder and Chief Executive Officer Jules Urbach has revealed his intentions to “democratize content creation” especially those virtual assets. Further, OTOY’s technology is said to set its sights in fulfilling the oath of an open cloud-based metaverse through the Render Network which is said to be the first decentralized graphics processing unit (GPU) 3D marketplace and rendering network which is built on OctaneRender non-fungible token (NFT) which is also from OTOY.
It was during the first-ever Solana Breakpoint Conference in Lisbon, Portugal where the CEO unveiled Render Network’s merger with the blockchain of Solana’s including the team up with Metaplex which is a platform intended for minting NFTs.
The Solana switch
Urbach stated that the project’s switch to Solana transpired for several reasons as one of them being Solana running on what he describes as a high-performance code at speeds that are fast enough to take on-scene graph changes on-chain minus the worries of security getting sacrificed. He added that a secure underlying infrastructure, not to mention a programmable one is essential for shareable and scalable dynamic metaverse content.
Render’s goal
The CEO also mentioned that Render’s goal is to fund the formation of an open-source Rust graphics processing unit cross-compiler tool designated for the RNDR Software Development Kit (SDK). This, according to him, would allow developers to set their sights towards both the GPU nodes of the Render Network and the smart contracts virtual machine from Solana with the same code.
As for the NFT minting Metaplex, Urbach deemed it as a great opportunity for the reimagination of a nonfungible token marketplace at scale as he highlighted that both smart contract code and storefront can be fused into the art itself.
Further, artists who are utilizing the Render Network could make the most out of the custom 3D metaverse-like NFT storefronts that are coded within the assets themselves. Additionally, payment flows can be taken care of no matter how many the number of a given NFT’s rendering donors.
Also, with the help of Metaplex, the Render Network will be providing augmented reality creators with the versatility to create live updates and even live stream renderings of nonfungible tokens across all devices on the cloud.
