CEOs of cryptocurrency companies will appear before the US House Financial Services Committee

The House Committee on Financial Services in the United States is in charge of overseeing all aspects of the financial services industry. The committee has called a hearing on Digital Assets and the Future of Finance, and CEOs of bitcoin exchanges and businesses have been invited to speak. One of the major witnesses on the US House Committee on Financial Services’ list is Sam Bankman-Fried, the CEO of FTX, a leading bitcoin derivatives platform.

Circle, FTX, Bitfury, Paxos, Stellar Development Foundation, and Coinbase Inc. CEOs have been asked to appear at the whole hearing by Congresswoman Maxine Waters, the committee’s Chairman. The committee’s priorities include justice, consumer and investor protection, and holding giant financial institutions, and developing ICT goods and services accountable for consumer and investor protection. Chairwoman Maxine Waters has made it a habit to call CEOs of large financial companies to committee hearings.

On December 8, CEOs and participants will discuss Digital Assets and the Future of Finance, Understanding the Challenges and Benefits of Financial Innovation in the United States during a hybrid committee hearing. Members and witnesses can participate remotely or in-person in hybrid hearings. Due to the uncontrolled nature of cryptocurrency, Chairwoman Waters has been a vocal opponent. Witnesses on Chairwoman Waters’ list support tougher bitcoin regulations. FTX’s Sam Bankman-Fried supports stricter bitcoin regulation for investors.
