  • The expansion was announced by the organization earlier in the week but is currently supporting Tether’s stablecoin in the nation.
  • Jack Mallers, the founder of Strike, stated that their target is for bringing hope to the people of the country.
  • As the news spreaded that bitcoin will not be included in the Strike app, disappointment among the users spreaded like a wildfire.

No Bitcoin in Strike App

Just after the 3 days of announcement regarding the release of its facilities in Argentina, Strike, an application powered by the Lightning Network, will only be supporting the stablecoin of Tether in the country for now.

The users got disappointed and started to complained regarding the disinvolvement of Bitcoin from the application, as they will not be able to hold, sell or buy the prominent crypto asset as the users belonging to Argentina. No mentions were made by the organization regarding only Tether’s support in the app upon the release of the application.

Strike’s CEO and founder Jack Mallers promised “a greater banking experience” in a tweet, adding that the company will “leverage the globe’s public financial network, to provide optimism to the citizens of Argentina.”

Strike’s expansion into Argentina is a component of a larger plan to spread throughout Latin America. Clients will be allowed to make international payments, get bitcoin tips on Twitter, and utilize Strike’s P2P transaction facilities, according to the organization’s release.

Strike did not answer to a request for clarification from a news agency concerning the usage of tether (USDT) on its network in Argentina. The corporation had also not responded to customer concerns on its Twitter handle or site.

An Argentinian client told a news agency that the application can accept bitcoin payments but transforms them to USDT right away. He stated that the Strike wallet can only store USDT. A Strike customer from Argentina, described the program as a “disappointment,” characterizing it as a “custodial wallet” which only functions with tether within Ethereum’s ERC-20 standards.

The program offers on- and off-ramps that enable people to link to the cryptocurrency, such as transferring USDT and subsequently getting bitcoin over the Lightning Network, according to the client.

According to the Argentinian customer, he was able to transmit cash from the Strike wallet to an exchange in Argentina, where he got bitcoin.

A journalist responded to the Argentinian customer by saying that Strike transfers tether to Bittrex, a crypto exchange that retains and transmits Strike’s money, rather than bitcoin.

As of now, Strike plays a crucial part in Bitcoin’s adoption in El Salvador as a legal tender. Strike is utilized broadly by the users, and the devs associated with Strike app have an essential part in developing the official Bitcoin wallet of the El Salvador government, known as Chivo.

Jack Mallers does not have strategies to keep Strike in El Salvador only. A wider market is being targeted by the organization.

As of this writing, Bitcoin was bullish by 1.27% in the past 24 hours, trending at the market price of $43,064.55.
