  • Metaverse Fashion week is all set to roll out in March, and it won’t be any less than a traditional one.
  • In 24 months, the need for a presence in the Metaverse will be as important as owning a website for large corporations, says Andrew Kiguel.

Andrew Kiguel, the CEO of Tokens(dot)com, has very recently bought a plot of land on Decentraland for $2.5 million. The significance and popularity of metaverse and blockchain-backed worlds have been widely increasing. From Facebook rebranding itself as Meta to big brands like Samsung, Nike, Adidas, Gucci, etc. setting up a presence there. The virtual world has come a long way.

Tokens(dot)com plans to develop the land and monetize it via advertising. Recently it was announced that Token(dot)com, in partnership with the luxury NFT marketplace UNXD, Metaverse fashion week is set to roll out in March 2022.

According to Andrew, who also happens to be the chairman of the Metaverse group, This live fashion week might end up being the most widely viewed fashion event in history. And it is meant to provide an experience similar to a traditional one like the New York or the London fashion week. There will be afterparties, DJ, and more to give the audience an exciting experience. The brands attached to this event will be announced in the next few weeks.

His views on Metaverse

In a recent interview, when asked about the importance of owning land in the Virtual World, he said they think of the Metaverse to be the next social media. Although only some people are into it as of now, but in the coming years, he thinks there will be millions of people joining the platform, and eventually, there will be billions of them. And that they just pre-purchased the land for retail and advertising space.

On being asked when he expects a return of investment from this big purchase, he said he expects it quite quickly. He predicts that the need for a presence in the Metaverse will be as important for big corporations as a website in the coming 24 months. And gaming, education, etc. are taking a shift towards Metaverse. As it has the options for in-game creations, buying, trading, concerts, and a lot more, it’s a great way to socialize for people without any geographical boundaries.

He thinks of Web3 as an alignment of content, money, and ownership as you can get in a virtual world and create your NFTs that can be traded in. Web3 is something that introduces ownership.

According to him, the people who are skeptical about the new technology might be the same bunch who raised questions about social media and its impact. And regulations, when appropriately implemented, aren’t a bad thing either.

Metaverse is indeed setting up its footprints on a broader range of people now. And big brands associated with it are making it even more considerable. It will be pretty interesting to see whether Andrew’s predictions about the Metaverse prove to be correct.
