  • Ukraine’s Vice Prime Minister requests another measure against Russia, contributing to the united efforts to stand against Russia’s act of violence.
  • He recently asked the crypto exchanges to block the accounts of Russian crypto users.
  • While popular giants are already contributing to stand with Ukraine, crypto assets are playing a significant role in the donations.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is currently the most highlighted topic as it has brought several restrictions on certain platforms.

With various large tech firms already taking measures against Russian state media, it seems like the crypto industry is all set to join the forces. Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov, has suggested another measure to aid Ukraine.

Fedorov recently Tweeted asking all the major cryptocurrency exchanges to block the addresses of Russian crypto users. He highlighted in his tweet that it was essential to freeze the addresses of Russian and Belarusian politicians along with ordinary Russian crypto users. He has also asked Apple to block their Apple store in Russia and restrict the sales of Apple products and services in the country.

This appeal is a part of Ukraine’s united efforts to bring together the world against Russia’s act of invasion. And these strategies are indeed working with prominent giants like Google and Facebook, making efforts to ensure Russian propaganda is limited. Fedorov further asked Mark Zuckerberg to ban Russia’s access to Facebook and Instagram as long as tanks and missiles attack Ukrainian hospitals and kindergartens.

Google and Facebook have restricted some of the state media accounts, including running advertisements and monetization.

But in contrast to these requests, Kraken’s CEO, Jesse Powell, replied to the Tweet highlighting that they can’t freeze the accounts of their Russian crypto users and clients without a legal requirement of doing so.

Russia’s act of invasion is indeed an aggressive one, but Ukraine has been standing firm with its strong defense. And has managed to get aid from citizens and governments globally.

And in terms of donations, digital assets are playing a significant role. Some people are providing substantial support to Ukraine, while some are ready to volunteer to fight, some are contributing financially.

While Ukraine recently called for donations in Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Tether (USDT), the country is receiving large amounts of donations via the crypto assets. Various reports show the donations to be totaled over 15 million. More and more grants and donations are provided as this war continues.
