Last week, Necaxa, a Mexican soccer club, announced that it is hoping to raise $300,000 by auctioning its Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT.
The club further expressed its willingness to donate to Ukraine following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The Mexican club announced the sale via its Twitter account highlighting, there is no better time to show the spirit of the Bored Ape Yacht Club community than by coming together for an important cause. And that is why they are auctioning off their Bored Ape and donating all of the proceeds to support Ukraine.
Notably, Necaxa is the sole Mexican club that has shown monetary solidarity towards the invaded country.
The BAYC NFT with the token id 7851, got sold for $330k to a private collector, and 100% of the proceeds went to the charities in Ukraine. Furthermore, this collector resold the NFT after twenty-four hours for $345k.
The #7581 BAYC got sold within a couple of days after the announcement by Club Necaxa.

The Club highlighted that the new owner of the NFT was a collector asking to be called Franklin, who already owns 40 NFTs from the Bored Ape Yacht Club.
Al Tylis, the owner of Necaxa, signified that he hoped to grab the attention of other sports teams to support Ukraine. Further highlights that sports teams have a distinct way of bringing people together and that he thinks, they have a moral obligation to stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian people as well as use their significant financial and other resources to help them.
The charities that would receive the proceeds from the sale are, Save the children, Voices of Children, World Central Kitchen, Americares and Cares,
