Deutsche Börse reported huge investors’ demand for crypto products last year

  • The leading German capital market company, Deutsche Börse, recently published a report highlighting the surge in crypto exchange-traded products witnessed last year.
  • The company expanded its services in 2021 to meet the upcoming demands in the digital asset industry.
  • 2021 saw a +922% surge in investors’ demands for the crypto products.

One of the prominent capital market companies based in Germany, Deutsche Börse, recently highlighted last year’s investors’ attraction towards cryptocurrency exchange-traded products(ETPs). The company further pointed to the surge in average monthly trading turnover in ETNs to more than $1 billion, i.e. plus 922% in comparison to 2020, which saw $115 million.

Growth of the company in the recent year:

The statistics relating to the ETPs were presented recently in a report by the company. The stock market operator expanded its services last year to meet the emerging demands and improvements for the digital assets industry. 

It evolved to include thirty-six cryptocurrency Exchange-traded notes(ETNs) focused on Bitcoin, Polkadot, Ethereum, Cardano, Solana etc. Comparatively, in 2020, those products were limited to only four in number. 

Deutsche Börse announced a few months ago about its listing of Bitcoin(BTC) spot ETN on its Digital stock exchange named Xetra. It got the product from the American management firm Invesco which filed in the US for Bitcoin futures ETF but got rejected. The company also involved a multi-currency capability for ETFs last year. 

The capital market companies remain to be Europe’s leading trading venue for ETFs, with trading volumes to be over $220 billion last year and around 1757 different offerings.

By the end of last year, Deutsche Börse acquired a majority of stakes in a leading Swiss firm, Crypto Finance AG, that provides services relating to digital assets. Simultaneously, the deal facilitated the Swiss firm to access the German market ecosystem. Earlier, it also extended its services to Singapore.

The Investors’ demand for crypto products was a massive one last year. It might be due to the increasing popularity and adoption of the asset class.
