Responding to a tweet by Brett Winton, director of research at Ark Invest, SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk shared a video about a popular meme cryptocurrency, dogecoin (DOGE) on April 1st.

Winton shared a conversation about Bitcoin mining which shows him struggling to explain to his mom that bitcoin miners are computers on April Fools’ Day. On the same day, Musk shared a meme video titled “Ð is for Ðogecoin” and captioned it saying “Just show her this video explains everything.”

In the short video, the DOGE mascot can be seen on a journey to the moon while the Shiba Inu is on a rocket bypassing Bitcoin including other crypto assets as the price of DOGE skyrocketed.

To which Winton replied that he is afraid that the meme is “A meme too far for her I’m afraid. (On the other hand, my 5-year-old is now frantically agitating to set up a Coinbase account).”

Billy Marcus, the co-founder of Dogecoin, also commented on Musk’s tweet declaring the meme video as the “best cryptocurrency video in history.”

This is not the first time that Musk has shared this particular video. Last year, on Feb 7 he tweeted the same video with the caption: “Ð is for Ðogecoin! Instructional video.”

Meanwhile, the supporters of DOGE were quite happy seeing Musk tweeting again about their favorite cryptocurrency. The DOGE community has appreciated Musk for helping in increasing the price of dogecoin through his tweets and even given him the name, “the Dogefather.”

Started as a joke in 2013 by Billy Markus from Portland, Oregon and Jackson Palmer from Sydney, Australia, Dogecoin is now the 12th largest cryptocurrency by market cap. At the time of writing, the popular meme currency was changing hands at 0.140356 USD.

However, this time Musk’s tweet didn’t trigger the market on Dogecoin. When his tweet came, the meme coin was trading at $0.1420.

Tesla’s CEO in March verified that he owns Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum(ETH), and Dogecoin(DOGE), saying that he does not plan to sell them. According to Musk, DOGE is the best cryptocurrency for transactions, and called the popular meme coin “people’s crypto.”

Contrary to his views on Dogecoin, the Tesla boss looks at the flagship cryptocurrency as a store of value. Also, his electric car company even accepts Dogecoin for certain merchandise.
