One of the popular movie theatre chain companies has announced that it is going to accept crypto payments for booking movie tickets

American Movie theatre chain based in Leawood, Kansas, AMC Theatres will now let its users buy tickets and get applied concessions using cryptocurrencies, Dogecoin and Shiba Inu. ON FRIDAY, the CEO announced theatre chain company Adam Aron, the CEO via Twitter. The announcement also added support for crypto payments through integration with Bitpay.

AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc. is the largest movie chain in the world. The company said in November last year that it was exploring ways to accept cryptocurrencies for buying and bookings of movie tickets. AMC has launched a feature that will allow users to use DOGE and SHIB on AMC Theatres’ app to buy movie tickets.

Besides booking or buying movie tickets, the procedure to pay for popcorn is relatively simple using Doge. It follows the same process: you use fiat currency, for instance, the US dollar, in your bank account to get movie tickets. Similarly, users would need to go through the usual and normal process to select their seats and add any concessions that users want. After going for payment, users would need to choose Bitpay as a payment method.

From there, users can connect to their crypto wallet, which the app uses, including the major ones like coinbase, etc. Otherwise, they can get an address to send the cryptocurrencies chosen for payment to complete the transaction and make the purchase. Until the time of writing, a large popcorn and drink combo and the movie ticket of the matinee screening of Sonic 2 were costing 213.53 DOGE or 1,204,739.70 SHIB.

Bitpay crypto services also support crypto assets like bitcoin and ethereum, but AMC theatre company has let its users go for PayPal to use that crypto for payments. Lately, other organisations worldwide, such as Wikipedia and others, have said how many people out there end up paying with crypto. It seems unlikely that the integration will be a gold mine for the theatre chain company.
