The team behind Dogecoin (DOGE), seems to have achieved another advance, as it has successfully sent a payment via DOGE 100 miles through radio waves.
And this signifies that DOGE transactions would be possible even in those areas with minimal or no traditional financial infrastructure. This became possible when a recipient utilized a Starlink internet connection to relay the transfer to the Dogecoin mainnet, which means that an internet connection was still required to carry out the transaction successfully.
The director of the Dogecoin Foundation listened in to the signal and the transaction was heard more than 800 miles away. Project Libdogecoin is the name of the software behind the transaction.
And the project is a C-based library of Dogecoin protocols that act as building blocks for Dogecoin projects. According to Michi Lumin, a Dogecoin developer who confirmed that there will be a low-cost open-source hardware implementation in the coming years to facilitate the wider community to carry out transactions through radio.
This possibility of a transaction via radio waves highlights the emerging potential of Dogecoin. The Libdogecoin project further has plans to develop a Dogecoin standard documentation, community proof of stake, layer-2 scaling for point of sale, and these radio-enabled nodes.
Dogecoin is a peer-to-peer open-source cryptocurrency featuring a Japanese breed of dog, Shiba, in its symbol. DOGE attracted massive popularity in 2021 when Elon Musk showed immense support for Dogecoin.
At the time of writing, DOGE is trading at $0.1332 with a market cap of $17,675,958,322.
