Madonna, the 63 year old singer, launched an NFT collection featuring animated version of her giving birth to a tree while nude. She made the video, which contains graphic imagery, in collaboration with SuperRare, a cryptocurrency art marketplace.
Madonna stated in a voice over to the video that her journey through life as a woman is similar to a tree. Initiating from a minor seed, always pushing against the earth’s resistance, the limitless weight of gravity, punishing winds and pouring rain and scorching heat.
She further added that she has taught herself to stay supple to stay strong. While predators pick at her fruit and scrape the barks, break the branches, cut her down, burn her to the ground.
The video NFT released by Pop Queen seems to be the initial in a 3 part collection, or triptych. The singer elaborated that every video is regarding the birth process, both metaphorically as well as literally.
Madonna stated in an Instagram video that the team is set out to make something which is utterly and absolutely linked to the notion of motherhood and creation.
She stated that whether she is sitting on a tank in a dystopian future or a bed of hospital in an extremely sterile laboratory environment, she has shown in the video what women are doing for ages.
She further stated that, On an extremely existential level, she is giving birth to creativity and art, and everyone would be lost without both.
Madonna will auction the NFTs, dubbed Mother of Nature, Mother of Technology and Mother of Evolution in a couple of day auction. Every NFT will open at a value of $1 worth of Ethereum.
In the Instagram video, she pointed out that every proceed from this sales will be given to charity, involving City of Joy, an organization helping women rebuild their natural lives after undergoing trauma.
