Recently came to know that Neal Stephenson is up to launch own metaverse blockchain along with Peter Vessenes for Open Metaverse.
Neal Stephenson is known to coin the term Metaverse itself, who knew that years after giving the concept he would be launching his own blockchain solely around blockchain. Concept of Metaverse has got wide acceptance and even seen became frenzy among people especially because of gaming and lockdown situations that followed after Covid-19 pandemic turned out to be crucial for its evolution. Cryptocurrencies and such digital assets were taken into account while people took interest in a digital space where they can perform all their tasks meant to take place online.
Now Neal Stephenson brought his own metaverse blockchain project dubbed as LAMINA1. While providing some more details, Stephenson revised his Metaverse vision saying that experience of metaverse created in virtual or augmented reality using headsets and lenses like apparatus as proposed by companies like Meta is more likely to be underperformed by the 2D screens.
The announcement came out outlining more about the project LAMINA1 that is to be co-founded by ‘Father of Metaverse’ Neal Stephenson and former chairperson of Bitcoin Foundation and well known crypto investor Peter Vessenes. LAMINA1 is going to be a layer 1 blockchain that is hoped to act as Open Metaverse’ base layer.
Vessenes, while anticipating the network to be carbon negative, stated that it is a place to build and create something that would be closer to what Neal Stephenson thinks about. As Neal visions for the space that privileges to both technical and artistic creators, that could provide support including spatial computing tech and a whole community that would be available to support those who are involved in building the metaverse.
Neal Stephenson is one of the most popular authors belonging to the speculative fiction genre including scene and history fiction. He is known to explore the whole concept of virtual reality and digital world that we know as Metaverse today showcased in 1992 sci fi novel Snow Crash. Besides his involvement in writing space, Stephenson also served his time in an augmented reality firm Magic as the chief futurist from 2014 and 2020.
Vessenes saying about roles of co-founders in LAMINA1 described that Neal brought his vision, experience, wisdom and some goals at its core while helping get artists and creators to get paid properly regarding their work that would help the environment and seeing a Open Metaverse that get built rather than seeing the vision of metaverse co opted by monopolies.
