Perhaps the most talked about lawsuit in crypto space, Ripple vs SEC, showing some good results.

Recently, defense lawyer James K. Filan shared updates on Ripple vs. SEC lawsuit. Filan said that Judge Analissa Torres granted some parts of the requests to seal the documents could be helpful to the court proceedings, but not all of it. These documents were connected with amici curiae of the court and eligible to take part in the Daubert proceedings. Further there was also mention of redactions that are due by 15th July, 2022.

Earlier defendants of Ripple put allegations on the SEC, for taking an extreme position on expert reports. Ripple defendants addressed Judge Torres in a recent letter where they blamed the SEC trying to keep any potential criticism silent. Further, the company also said that the American watchdog took an unusual way to counter Ripple’s proposal.

Ripple challenged three experts from the SEC, but the regulator requested the experts be filed under seal. San-Francisco based company claimed this wrong given the decision of the Judge is pending on Patrick B. Doody, who’s the fourth expert. Moreover, the claims that the American regulator had put on Doody, fall on him as threats and harassment.

However, attorney Jeremey Hogan from Hogan and Hogan said Judge Torres’ recent decision was a good outcome. Hogan thinks so, given that the general public can go through the expert witness reports.

As far as involvement of Patrick Doody in the case is concerned. It came in front after amicus status was given to XRP holders. This move came seeking to file Ripple holder’s motion to oppose the expert reports of Doody.

In May, 2022, John Deaton – CryptoLaw filed a motion letter to Judge Torres, requesting to permit the lawyer so he could file a brief on XRP holders’ behalf. The SEC has made arguments according to recent court documents that disclosed information related to findings of experts. Since these findings are public, they could result in incitement to the discussion but it could result in deterrence.
