South Korea’s First Vice Minister at the Republic of Korea Ministry of Strategy & Finance joins Hashed Open Research (HOR) as CEO. Hashed Open Research is a blockchain and digital technology research institute backed by Web3 focused venture capitalist firm.
In a recent post from Yong-beom Kim on Facebook, he expressed a positive attitude towards his new beginning. Joining HOR will help connect the Korean authorities with young blockchain experts through different mediums.
Kim said he has met a few young blockchain experts in the country and heard about the competitive factor Korea pursue. He also met Seo-jun Kim, CEO of Hashed Open Research at a conference earlier this year. Kim is closely related to Seo-jun’s father for the last 20 years.
He also shared an opinion saying he served as Senior Economist at the World Bank in the early 2000’s and later as a first Vice Mininter. His experience can help Hashed achieve visionary goals and global advancement in digital technologies and blockchain platforms.
He expressed a strong set of thoughts in his post, saying that Korea has a great potential in various industries like gaming, crypto, and theaters as well. The country exhibits a great potential to compete with the United States in the digital realm. Moreover, Korea has a full-fledged potential to become a global G2.
The country holds a great position in various industries such as software technology, video gaming, and most importantly Korean media content. Back in 2018, amid the rise in the crypto market, Kim introduced a real-name system as a part of the Special Payments Act. This was the time when Kim was serving as Vice Chairman of the Financial Services Commission (FSC).
An Expert with Visionary Goals
Kim is considered as an expert in South Korea with a strong career history. He joined government services in 1986 and since then he served at crucial positions including Vice Chairman at FSC and Chairman at Securities and Futures Commission (SFC).
In early 2000, he left the services for four years to join as a Senior Economist in the World Bank specializing in Chinese Economy. He also served as a Director General of the Global Financial Architecture Bureau in the G20 Seoul Summit.
