- Coinbase announced the integration of crypto policy efforts on its mobile app.
- It will facilitate its verified users by educating them on the crypto positions held by their local political leaders.
The Co-Founder and CEO of Coinbase, Brian Armstrong, made an announcement on September 15, 2022 in a Twitter thread. He shared the information that the firm will begin integrating crypto policy efforts into its app. This app integration will help Coinbase’s 103M verified users to see the crypto positions held by their local politicians.
The CEO further added in the thread that “Over time, we want to help pro-crypto candidates solicit donations from the crypto community (in crypto). We’ll also expand to get more geographic coverage in global elections, and add data on various candidates running for office (not just current elected officials).”
The Crypto Scorecard
For Instance, Coinbase will depend on some of the data that is compiled by the Crypto Action Network (CAN). It will use the Crypto Scorecard on the CAN website, which grades each member of Congress from “A” to “F.” The grades of the Congress members based on their public statements and public actions with respect to cryptocurrency policy.
Armstrong also mentioned that crypto advocacy is very important for their mission of enhancing economic freedom in the world and his firm is doing its part to help the world. But as the crypto community is bigger than Coinbase, “hopefully Coinbase can all rally to engage elected leaders and drive sensible policies.”
He lastly pointed toward their broader education initiative that was shared by the Chief Policy Officer of Coinbase, Faryar Shirzad, on August 25, 2022.
