  • Buterin shared his thoughts as he thinks that Ukraine may become the next Web3 hub.
  • In the Tech Summit at Kyiv, he expressed his support with Ukrainians and its active Web3 community.

Highlights of The Kyiv Tech Summit

Buterin took part in the Kyiv Tech Summit Web3 hackathon. The summit was held from September 6 to 9, 2022 in the UNIT.City innovation park. The organizer of this event was the charity blockchain fund Unchain Ukraine together with Ukraine DAO, the meta universe Atlantis World and activists of the Web3 community. The aim of this event is to develop software solutions that will help the country (Ukraine) during the war and after the country’s victory.

Thoughts of The Ethereum Creator

The creator of Ethereum expressed that he was very motivated to visit the country which is in a state of war. Also, it is the country that united the powerful web3 community across the world.

Buterin said during the meeting that, “It is incredible. Be brave like Ukraine, right? I wanted to see with my own eyes what kind of projects and applications based on Ethereum technology are being created here, to get to know the people behind them.”

It was not the first time when Buterin showed his support for Ukraine. On February 24, 2022 he showed his disappointment with Putin’s decision to go to war with Ukraine.

Besides this, on April 6, 2022 Buterin donated 1,500 ETH that is approximately $5M to show his support with Ukraine.

Furthermore, Buterin believes that Ukraine has the potential with great opportunities to be the next Web3 hub. He added in his statement that, “I think that Ukraine may well become the next Web3 hub. The Ethereum Foundation has hubs in Boulder, Berlin, Singapore, as communities have grown organically there. A country can become a Web3 hub if its people are actively interested in this technology and decide to make a big contribution to its development. So yes, absolutely. Ukraine has both the capabilities and the determination for this.”
