  • An American investor and the founder of ARK invest gave up her position as a portfolio manager at two of the investment management company’s exchange-traded funds, as per the regulatory filing.

William Scherer, who was appointed as a trading manager at ARK, will now be serving the company as an investment handler replacing Wood for the firm’s two index funds, named ARK 3D Printing ETF and ARK Israel Innovative Technology.

The 3D printing-centered fund has a net worth of almost $196.7 million, and ARK Israel has approximately $115.4 million in assets under management. Wood will carry on with s-managed vehicles.

Ark accepted and verified the change of position in the company but preferred not to comment anything about the filing.

The move of Wood to give the position to Scherer follows the series of high-level management changes at the company – actions that can express the initial stages of a progression plan for the company.

During the period of publicity of two experts, Sam Korus and Nicholas Grous, at the beginning of this year, Cathie Wood was the only portfolio manager for the entire company’s nine EFTs.

In September 2022, the company developed a new place that was eventually filled by Brett Winton, director of research at ARK. Winton was popularized as the first-ever “chief futuristic” at ARK – a shift that started conversations; Winton might be a possible replacer of Wood.

The Criticism

The company has drained criticism on the broadness of Wood’s roles at the company as it shorts a successor in the line, and now she isn’t able to look after functions anymore.

“Intensifying that main person risk is the company’s failure to grow and hold the talent,” Morningstar’s Robby Greengold stated in an April note; it also mentioned that the experience of several years of Wintson also holds portfolio management. “Several analysts and experts have come and gone, and many of them do not have keen industry exposure or experience.”

As per his profile on the website of the company, Scherer has worked with the company’s CIO, COO, and the research team to execute craved investment plans and has been answerable for controlling the rebalances of ARK’s indexed portfolios from their establishment.
