Bitcoin’s layer-2 solution, the Lightning Network (LN), offers users faster and cheaper transactions.

The move demonstrates the company’s commitment to Bitcoin in light of the resignation of one of the asset’s most vocal advocates, former CEO Michael Saylor. Saylor and MS are still big on BTC.

Saylor recently criticized what he called misinformation and propaganda regarding the alleged environmental impact and energy consumption of the Bitcoin network.

The Bitcoin advocate continues to Tweet about the assets’ properties, which have been highlighted even further by recent fiat currency collapses and the ensuing banking bunkum.

He claimed that metrics now indicate that almost 60% of energy for BTC mining comes from sustainable sources and that energy efficiency improved by 46% year over year.

Lightning Network growth plateaus

Growth in the Lightning Network has slowed down somewhat in 2022 as a result of a wider market slowdown and an extended crypto winter.

Having said that, it has not gone down, and it has maintained the highs that it first reached earlier this year.

Bitcoin Visuals claims that there are approximately 85,000 active channels on the network.Over the past two years, this has increased by more than 120 percent.

After increasing by a similar percentage over the previous 24 months, the number of nodes has also stabilized around 17,000.

The current capacity of the network is approximately $93 million, having decreased in tandem with the price of Bitcoin from its all-time high of $214 million.
