Mark Zuckerberg is avoiding the negative signs like Neo avoided the bullets in The Matrix. Meta CEO has so much faith in his vision that he is not realizing what it can cost to his organization. Where Apple CEO, Tim Cook, says that the majority of folks are not even able to define what metaverse is, Zuck Bucks thinks that virtual spaces are the future of the world.
According to the recent reports, the company is losing Horizon users at full tilt. Meta lowered their target of reaching 500K users to 200K. The decision comes as the users are not returning to the digital space after spending a month there. People say that they are unable to find like minded people and metaverse worlds they like in the Horizon Worlds.
Recently, Mark Zuckererg unveiled their latest product, Meta Quest Pro, in the Meta Connect Conference. He also displayed the updated avatars there, this time with legs. Though, their new gadget comes with 5 in-built cams to capture eye movement and facial expression to mimic them in the metaverse. But this has raised data privacy concerns, taking into account the events leading to the Facebook-Cambridge Analytica data scandal.
Meta is spending a lot of money for metaverse research. They have thrown around 15 Billion USD in their R&D arm Reality Labs, but due to zero transparency, we don’t know where the funds are flowing. Though it is not all bad for the organization as they are constantly updating the users with their latest developments.
Take this for example, he uploaded an updated version of his avatar and an image that looked like a wall of an ancient structure, on Instagram. The graphics were no less than the Pixar movies. The move comes as the users backfired on his low resolution selfie.
Apart from this, the company joined forces with Microsoft to integrate the Office 365 Suite in their metaverse to increase the productivity in the virtual worlds. The future of employment, according to the experts, lies within digital spaces. From working to meetings, everything will take place in the metaverse.
Meta is not the only organization in this race. Apple was reported to be developing its own virtual reality headsets. They would use the eye-scan feature to let the users enter the metaverse, make payments and more. If this is true, then a single device will act as a gateway to multiple users in the Apple metaverse.
