Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) has maintained an impressive reputation in the web3 space. Their association with renowned celebs and brands signifies the popularity of the ‘disinterested looking Apes’ NFT collection. TIMEX entered this list of BAYC associations as they announced the launch of 500 watches focused on the digital collectible. Though the people have to wait as the company will officially release the lot next year.
Company’s Global VP of Global Marketing and Creative Services, Shari Fabiani, says that “They are stepping into the web3 by keeping creativity and community at the vanguard.” The organization made their entry with AmazeVR’s “Enter Thee Hottieverse” event where they provided virtual watches for the avatars.
Timex also partnered with one of the best selling battle royale games, Fortnite. The company said that they have become the timekeepers of the metaverse with the “Race Against TimeX” event. Fabiani said that “The company has already entered the metaverse but they are going full throttle into gaming with this.”
The organization has come a long way to establish itself as one of the most admired watch brands on the globe. The company was founded in 1854 titled Waterbury Clock Company. They did not have a smooth transition during their journey as the organization went through insolvency in 1944 and reformed under the name Timex Corporation.
During the 1950s they had experienced reduced sales, a direct effect of the Korean War at the time. The company did not only manufacture watches during the period but mechanical components of missiles too due to a boom in American missile development. This includes gyroscope, fuse, guidance systems and more. They claimed themselves to be the largest manufacturers of watches and missile elements at that time.
At present, the company solely focuses on watches and has maintained a huge and loyal user base. Bill Clinton, the 42nd President of America, wore early models of the Timex Ironman-Triathlon series during his Governor days.
The Bored Ape Yacht Club is declining for the past 7 days with sales volume down by 67.9%. Art Blocks has gained a whopping 129% in volume and has more traders in the ecosystem in contrast to others. NFT market has a current market cap of $14.33 Billion, an over 2% rise in the past 24 hours.
Crypto market cap had a total market cap of $868 Billion with Bitcoin and Ethereum witnessing a positive momentum. While BTC rose by 6.82% in the past week, ETH uptrended by 10.34%.
