On January 12, 2023, Twitter launched the price chart of the cryptocurrency Shiba Inu (SHIB) on the platform. Twitter has launched price charts for other crypto assets including Bitcoin, Ethereum and Dogecoin among others.
Twitter added the crypto price-chart feature last December to allow users to track crypto prices on the platform itself.
To track the price of a crypto, users need to search the ticker symbol of a specific crypto currency with a dollar sign placed before the symbol. For instance, searching for “$SHIB” will display the price chart for Shiba Inu.
Along with the price chart of Shiba Inu, a clickable link will be visible which will redirect users to Robinhood’s website.
As of March 2022 Robinhood has 22.8 million funded accounts and 15.9 million monthly active. The additional link along the price chart might be a promotional tactic.
Featuring price charts of several crypto assets on Twitter reflects Musk’s belief in cryptocurrency as an asset class. He believes crypto is the future of currency because it makes the financial system efficient by ridding it of the fiat currency’s flaws.
At the time of writing, Shiba Inu was trading at $0.00001051 with the 24-hour trading volume around $314,112,089. According to data from CoinMarketCap, in the last seven days the price of SHIB token intensified by around 20%.
Data aggregator WhaleStats states the total number of Shiba Inu holders is 1.28 millions.
ShibBurn data shows that on December 17, 2023, the community burnt or transferred 841,041 SHIB tokens to a dead wallet and in the last 24 hours the community burned around 2,48,41,448 tokens. And till date, the community has burnt 410,384,555,775,796.
TheCoinRepublic reported on January 11, 2023, that Shiba Inu announced their partnership — involving Shiboshis NFT collection — with luxury brand Bugatti Group on Twitter. A recent post revealed that a mint party hosted by their collaborators where genesis NFT holders will receive certain benefits associated with the tokens. The seven tweet thread offers a gist of what the users can expect during this event.
