While people across the globe are still acquainting with the metaverse, they don’t realize that they are already in it. Or we can say, unconsciously preparing for what they are about to witness in forthcoming years. Though it has become a buzzword over time, companies are developing solutions to offer a full-scale accessibility to the metaverse.

From a Playstation console to virtual reality devices, tech giants have already developed initial means to enter virtual spaces. Here’s a list of a handful of technologies allowing accessibility to the metaverse.

How to Access The Metaverse?

Gaming remains the easiest means to access the metaverse. Users can simply open a console, PC, smartphone and more to play a game and engage in a whole new world. Though a gamer might be getting the experience on a flat screen they are immersed in a different realm during a certain period.

By far, augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (XR) technologies are preferred most by the users to access the metaverse. The devices deliver a more immersive environment, rendering the environment more interactive.

Virtual Reality

The technology usually asks a user to wear a headset to enter a virtual space. The technology is best exhibited in Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One, a movie centered around a digital world accessible through a VR headgear. Virtual reality delivers a computer generated environment to offer an immersive experience to the users.

Augmented Reality

AR is currently less immersive than VR technology. Unlike an entire new world, augmented reality leverages the real world environments and integrates virtual objects using a device. Best example of the tech remains Pokemon Go, a mobile game developed by Niantic. The game is nothing more than the user seeing a pokemon on a road via his mobile’s cam.

Mixed Reality

Mixer Reality, as the term suggests, brings together the technologies to integrate virtual worlds. To put it more subtly, virtual reality emphasizes on digital worlds, while augmented reality focuses more on digital objects. It is similar to the technology Tony Stark, a fictional character in the Marvel Universe, uses while interacting with virtual objects in a physical environment.

What is The Difference Between AR, VR and MR?

Many people might get confused with the nitty-gritty of the concepts, they are actually easy to differentiate. VR simply allows a user to enter a virtual world where he cannot interact with a physical environment. AR allows digital objects to interact with the physical environment. Meanwhile, Mixed reality brings both the concepts together to deliver a virtual world without seizing their presence in the real world.
