Francis Suarez, Mayor of Miami, has signed the paperwork for candidacy in the United States presidential elections in 2024. 

He will succeed former U.S. President Donald Trump and fellow Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who are Bitcoin advocates contending to win the Republican presidential nomination. Suarez officially filed the paperwork on June 14, according to documents released by the U.S. Federal Election Commission.

Suarez will speak in Simi Valley at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, California, on June 16, where he will discuss his presidential plans. The 43rd Mayor of Miami, Suarez, will speak as a part of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute’s “A Time for Choosing Speaker Series.”

In these formal lectures at Simi Valley’s Reagan Library, California, orators address fundamental questions such as “Why are you a Republican?”, “What should the Republican Party stand for?” and “What are the Republican philosophies we can all agree on?”. The motive is clear in making people aware of sustaining the motto of existence. 

Suarez was Appointed Twice in the Last 6 Years

Suarez was elected with an 86% majority in the 2017 elections, and then at the time of re-election, it became nearly 79% (2021 elections). In Miami, Suarez’s leadership has decreased taxes and crime to its lowest within the geographical borders in the last fifty years. It spreads out as a broad-based economic expansion across Miami. 

Mayor Suarez is the former President of the Miami-Dade County League of Cities and actively serves as the Miami-Dade Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) vice-chair. Mayor Suarez has a familial and political background. His father, Xavier Suarez, was Miami’s first-ever Cuban-American mayor.

Being in TPO, he upheld the Strategic Miami Area Rapid Transit (SMART) Plan, which was unanimously passed. The plan carries mass transit possibilities in Miami-Dade County via six main corridors and new busways.

Suarez’s links with Bitcoins

In June 2022, Suarez stated that Bitcoin could become a global currency  He has also accepted his salary in Bitcoin in the past. At the World Economic Forum in Davos, the mayor played a Bitcoin “evangelist”. He explained that he is just trying to get people to understand that this technology will influence “the lives of many.” 

Suarez also formed a part of “MiamiCoin” in January 2022, a scheduled program through which Miami residents could purchase crypto through a digital wallet and obtain a Bitcoin dividend.

Suarez, who lauded Bitcoin’s democratizing effect on the destiny of funds and assets for every American, in an interview with one of the local media Outlets in 2021, discussed ways to carry taxes and deliver municipal employees’ salaries in cryptocurrency. 

He also announced MiamiCoin (MIA) to be built on Stacks, a Bitcoin blockchain, hoping to pay a recurring BTC stimulus to Miami citizens. According to CoinMarketCap, In 2022, MIA already had divested around 95% of its value from an all-time high of around 5 cents by March. Many exchanges delisted MIA and NYC Coin because of limited liquidity.
