The Christie’s auction Keith Haring, Pixel pioneer is currently beginning with digital paintings created on a Commodore Amiga Computer in 1987. And, it is minted as Ethereum NFTs by Keith Haring Foundation. MNTGE has converted one of the drawings (Keith Haring Foundation untitled #2 from April 16, 1987) into a vintage-style patch.
Each patch is embedded with a chip through technology that is equipped with near-field communication (NFC). The chip is tied to a unique Ethereum NFT. These are blockchain-based digital certificates or proof of ownership.
Details of the Patchwork
The auction is open by September 20 and it ranges from $220,000 to $50,000 paperwork. The price point of the batches is more accessible at just $39.99 apiece. The patches are available for a limited time through MNTG Web.
The entitled patchwork is redeemable for physical versions and is compiled with NFC chips. These were custom-designed by one of the 11 contemporary artists. The partnership of Christie and Haring dates back to when MNTGE hosted a dinner in July. The dinner is proposed as Christie’s Art and Tech Summit, providing guests with exclusive NFC chip-enabled jackets.

Nicole Sales Giles, Christie’s Vice President and Director of digital art sales, said that she believes that if Haring were alive he would be a strong proponent of bridging the Web3 and traditional art worlds. Haring’s art has attracted a huge range of audience. More traditional art collections will be introduced in Web3 sales.
The introduction of patches will make the effect more articulated. The pricing is kept marginal with Haring’s belief that art is for everybody. Keith Haring expressed a generation where art spoke to the masses. His subway drawings in New York in the 1980s brought art into the streets and his aesthetic became iconic. His ability to bring art to everyone made him a pioneer of his era.
