Artificial intelligence (AI) took the world by storm and many companies are running after it. Many seek the deployment of AI to make existing operations efficient while some are behind in creating AI models.

After launching ChatGPT, OpenAI made it to the top spot. However, the competition got only fierce, and now the competition is set to become more intense after Elon Musk’s xAI launched ‘Grok.’

The Guardian reported on Sunday that Elon Musk’s recently founded artificial intelligence company launched the first AI chatbot dubbed Grok. The centibillionaire celebrated the launch of an AI based chatbot that was calling out the threats from the technology.

Grok AI was trained over data from Musk owned social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Since X’s data shows continued developments, the company stated that the AI bot will be better informed on the latest developments. This will give xAI’s gen AI model an advantage over existing chatbots fed with static datasets.

In a blog post released on Saturday, xAI noted that Grok will give an answer having “a bit of wit and has a rebellious streak.” Giving a witty remark, the firm gave a disclaimer to people who hate humor to not use it.

The company staff also explained that the Grok AI is inspired by British author Douglas Adams created sci-fi comedy, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. So, the AI bot intends to respond and answer almost anything asked to it and can even suggest to the user what questions to ask.

Musk shared a screenshot of Grok resolving queries in a sarcastic and witty way. “It’s also based & loves sarcasm. I have no idea who could have guided it this way,” he added.

Musk Launches AI Company Despite Concerns

In a surprising twist of events, tech mogul Elon Musk has been in the spotlight for his evolving stance on artificial intelligence (AI) and his involvement in AI research. Musk, who co-founded OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, initially distanced himself from the organization in 2018. He cited disagreements with OpenAI’s objectives and his commitments to other ventures as the reasons for his departure.

Musk’s concerns about the rapid development of AI and its potential risks have been a consistent theme. In March, he supported a call for a six-month pause in the development of powerful AI systems.

However, by July, he had changed his tune, deeming the pause unrealistic. Instead, he announced the formation of xAI, a new initiative aimed at building AI systems “in a good way.”

Recently, at the AI safety summit at Bletchley Park, Musk reiterated his apprehensions about AI. He joined the chorus of experts and tech executives who fear that AI systems could evolve beyond human control, posing a threat to humanity.

Musk’s rollercoaster involvement in the AI world continues to raise questions about the future of AI development and its implications for humanity. As the tech community grapples with the challenges of AI, Musk’s journey remains an intriguing and contentious narrative.
