In simple words, a node is a point of intersection in communication networks. It may also receive, send, or create data on a communication channel. However, its functionality and meaning become different in a blockchain network. In a decentralized environment, a node is simply a computer connected to a cryptocurrency network.

Full Nodes

Light Nodes

For verification and validation of transactions, they rely on full nodes. Usually, they communicate with several full nodes to gather data. Since these nodes deal with a lesser amount of information, light nodes are faster. At the same time, they’re less safe as they depend on full nodes for everything.

Miner Nodes

Miner Nodes add new blocks to the network and verify transactions. These nodes solve complex mathematical problems and calculations to perform the job. While creating new blocks, these nodes receive high rewards too.
