Animoca Brands Japan’s New COO to Set Rivalry for Web3 Companies

On February 1, 2024, Animoca Brands Japan, a subsidiary of Animoca Brands, shook hands with Kensuke Amo as he was appointed as the Chief Operating Officer (COO). The goal is to expand the roots of the brand in the Web3 universe and offer tough competition to the existing Web3 Companies. Kensuke Amo served as managing executive officer at Coincheck and also indulged in the expansion of “The Sandbox” and “Otherside” in Japan.   

The Team’s Excitement About the Partnership  

Animoca Brands Japan is a big supporter of Japanese IP and content (IP) holders in global expansion in the Web3 space. To drive Web3 expansion, the company appointed Kensuke Amo as the new COO. 

Amo has a strong and effective track record in the areas of launching NFT businesses and leading new crypto businesses. Both parties are heavily involved in the world of Web3 expansion and expressed their joy about partnering. 

“I am very pleased to join Animoca Brands as the organization will create the most of its network and assets and involves more than 400 portfolio companies. The combined knowledge, experience and rule-making will help the brand in expanding strong roots in the Web3 industry”, said Kensuke Amo.

In response to Kensuke Amo, Daisuke Iwase, the current CEO of Animoca Brands Japan, expressed his admiration for Kensuke Amo. 

“To date, Animoca Brands Japan was working to connect Japan and the rest of the world in a Web3 space through overseas development of Japanese Intellectual Property and Content (IP)”, said Daisuke Iwase. 

“As the Web3 industry is on the boom, I look forward to working with Kensuke, who holds great experience in the area of Crypto Assets, NFT, and Metaverse in Japan. With Kensuke, Animoca Brands Japan is ready to take on various challenges and hold strong roots in Web3 society”, added Daisuke.    

Animoca Brands Japan Journey in Web3

Established in 2021, the company delivers a platform that connects IPs with blockchain technology and helps IP holders to create their environment in the most suitable way. Since its launch, the firm has been heavily engaged in the global expansion of the Web3 field.

In June 2023, the company announced its partnership with Mitsui & Co. and included an undisclosed amount of investment. The deal was offered when the Japanese government was focused on the adoption of Web3 as a national strategy. 

Mitsui’s industrial companies and consumer businesses will be used to contribute to the innovation and the boom of Web3 in the Japanese market.  

Additionally, in September 2023, Animoca Brands announced a partnership with Drecom Corporation, a company well known for its development of popular game applications. Both companies are focused on contributing to the gaming sector and they support Web3 companies.  

Moreover, Cool Cats Group is another company that partnered with Animoca Brands in November 2023. The motive is to expand its roots in the Japanese anime market. Furthermore, on 30 January 2024, the company advanced its digital property rights for Open Metaverse and gaming and announced a partnership with LightLink.
