Winklevoss Twins Announced Co-Ownership Of Bitcoin Soccer Club

Winklevoss Twins, the co-founder of Gemini announced their co-ownership of the Bitcoin soccer club by investing $4.5 Million in Bitcoin (BTC).  

Cameron and Tyler, the Winklevoss twins stepped up their standing in the crypto space by investing $4.5 Million BTC in Real Bedford Football Club (RBFC). The twin brothers co-founded Gemini, an American cryptocurrency exchange in 2014 that allows individuals to securely buy, sell, and store cryptocurrencies.        

Winklevoss Twins $4.5 Million BTC Investments

On April 13, Winklevoss Twins took on social media platform X to announce their co-ownership in RBFC. The twin brothers invested over $4.5 Million in BTC to create a first-ever football club powered by Bitcoin.    

The trio of Winklevoss Twins and Peter McCormack is trying to create the first-ever football club powered by Bitcoin. McCormack acquired the football club in 2021 to compete with top football clubs in the UK. 

As per the statement, the twin brothers executed the investment through Winklevoss Capital and helped the club with infrastructural needs. Furthermore, the funds will also be used for constructing new training centers and supporting Youth and girls’ football.  

Additionally, the club accepts BTC for gaming including tickets, beverages, sponsorships, and merchandise. Acceptance of BTC will help the club compete with well-known United Kingdom clubs like Manchester United and Chelsea Football Club.         

As a part of the partnership celebration, McCormack shared his view. “We are a long way from the Premier League as exciting as that is our ambition, I work on one league at a time,” McCormack stated.

Cameron Winklevoss responded to McCormack. The twins brothers are not just investing in the club, but investing in a dream to carry Premier League football to Bedford, he added.   

“We share in Peter’s deep confidence in BTC and its power to supercharge RBFC’s investigation to make it into the Premier League,” Tyler Winklevoss added.

Furthermore, a Singapore-based crypto firm BingX sponsored football giant Chelsea’s jersey. In addition to this, blockchain startups are integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) in their system to enhance collaboration across different applications.

Flare Network, a blockchain startup collaborated with AI for services enhancement. 

BTC’s Performance 

According to CoinMarketCap, BTC is currently trading at $67,199.26, after a drop of 5.06% in the past day. The coin has a market cap of $1,322,378,047,053 and $48,247,777,128 in 24-hour volume. BTC has a maximum supply of 21 Million and a circulating supply of 19,681,156.
