Over the years, scammers have swift from the prime currency Bitcoin to other industries entities, by palling their inboxes with malware. And as of now, the system has become more equipped to handle these kinds of frauds.
Hackers new choice ‘Ledger Live’
The hackers have adopted newer and vaguer ways to exploit these escapes. In a recent investigation, xrplorer forensics identified “Ledger Live” as a false Google Chrome extension that collects backup passphrases of users.
In its recent tweets, ‘xrplorer forensics’ exposed that the extensions are advertised on Google searches and use Google Docs for collecting data.

It further stated the accounts of users are being vacant and almost 200k XRP has been stolen from the past month. Right now the xrplorer forensic team does not have data from other Cryptocurrencies.
Further correcting the statement, the team told the figure is close to 1.4M. Most of them are still in the accounts that have been cashed out through HitBTC.
Warning to the users, the team cautioned not to download the tools for the hardware wallet from other places than going to an authorized vendor.
XRP community in the loop of scammers
This is not the first time the scammers have targeted XRP community, Gatehub has previously revealed in his previous remarks that a way back in June 2019, the funds on the XRP Ledger wallets being compromised.
A source previously reported that scammers are using a fake ‘Ripple Insights’ page, they made a subtle change to the original page using special characters that makes the users feel a genuine platform to use.
The page, however, was filled with fake news, articles on airdrops and giveaways. The scammers creating fake live streams of Ripple and XRP for defrauding people is not new, a few of the scammers were successful in by convincing users to send fake projects.
