  1. Solana recently faced a brutal DDos attack while the network was still up and about.
  2.  While some blame the botnets attack during the time of Raydium IDO for clogging the network just like in September
  3. While the speculation rages on, an official confirmation is yet awaited while the price of the token tanks.

Recently the popular blockchain and cryptocurrency went up for a toss after users complained about delays & failures while transacting with the blockchain after which it had been clear that a DDos attack had struck out on the blockchain.

Solana was reportedly hit by denial of service attacks (DDos) over the past 24 hours while the networks still happened to be running online. Be that as it may, the alleged DDos attack was partially successful as it slowed down the whole network also witnessed failures to interact with the blockchain in some cases.

A DDos attack is a kind where large coordinated devices or a Botnet overwhelms a network by routing fake traffic with the intention of taking the network down & offline. Such an instance wouldn’t be the first time as the blockchain had already suffered similar attacks in September.

Solana faced a 17-hour outage back in September due to mass botting activity for the initial DEX offering (IDO) based on Solana’s decentralized exchange, Radium. A Reddit user on sub r/Solana expressed frustration and held responsible IDO launches on the Radium while also questioning if something was done about it.

The latest DDos attack was first reported by Solana based NFT Blockasset at around 3 pm UTC where it was found quoting that they were aware of tokens taking longer time to be distributed as the chain was being overloaded by DDos attacks which consequently have clogged the network causing delays.

Solana specific infrastructure firm GenesysGo also had a take on it and experienced issues with processing transaction requests  However the firm also asked users to stay calm and pointed out that if one’s transaction ID wasn’t lost, they hadn’t lost the tokens. While amongst all the speculation, Solana foundation is yet to share its take on the matter.

The attack has also affected the price of the token where Solana has lost 7.3% of its value in the past 24H, at the time of writing the token is trading at $172 levels. It is also to be noted that Solana has crashed by more than 34% from its record all-time highs of $260 hit last month.. By gauging the recent prices, it is evident that investors are tired of such attacks on the blockchain and hopefully expect it to be resolved sooner than later.
