Crypto.com Signs A Deal Worth $25M With Australia Football League

  • Australia Football League (AFL) has partnered with Crypto.com in the first major crypto sports sponsorship deal in Australia for backing it’s women’s league.
  • The company’s deal along with being the first crypto sports sponsorship in Australia also is its first contract sponsoring a women’s sport competition worldwide.
  • In the span of the last few months, Crypto.com has signed a number of deals with sports brands overall worth more than $1.5 billion.

Australia Football League (AFL) has collaborated with Crypto.com to support its women’s league in the historic first major crypto sports sponsorship deal.

A major surge from the AFL’ s existing $18.5 million sponsorship deal with Toyota, the new contract is worth around $25 million over the next five years. A crypto exchange based in Singapore, Crypto.com offers crypto-backed debit cards and digital wallets. 

It’s the first time that Crypto.com is sponsoring a sports team in Australia. The deal also marks company’s first time sponsoring an elite women’s sports tournament globally. Kylie Rogers AFL Executive General Manager Customer and Commercial said she feels proud to be a part of this milestone.  

Rogers also added that the AFL takes pride in being the first Australian sports league and elite women’s competition worldwide to have partnered with an organization that shares its mutual passion for a bright future of elite sport and technology.

Karl Mohan, Crypto.com general manager at Asia & Pacific, said that Australia’s relatively high number of women interested in cryptocurrency attracted the company. He also revealed that according to recent consumer research, over 53% of crypto investors in Australia are women.

He further explained that the Australians, irrespective of gender or background, are interested in adopting cryptocurrencies and said the company is excited about being their go-to platform.

However, a CNBC survey revealed that women are less likely to invest in cryptocurrencies than men, with female crypto investors being only  7% while almost male investors double being almost double at 16%.

Over the past months, Crypto.com has signed a number of sports branding deals that together are worth over $1.5 billion. The crypto company also signed a $700 million worth deal in mid-November for renaming the Staples Center in L.A, to Crypto.com Arena for the upcoming 20 years. 

In Late June last year, the company signed a $100-million sponsorship agreement with Formula 1 and also partnered with the UFC in July signing a million sponsorship agreement.
