BTC Helps Canadian Truckers Get What They Need

For the past few weeks, Canadian truckers have gathered throughout their country to create what has become known as a Freedom Convoy. Truckers in Canada are protesting continuous COVID-19 vaccine demands, and they’ve gotten backing from individuals all over the world who oppose medical mandates of any kind. Now, it appears that a group of libertarians based in Canada has put up a bitcoin funding network for protesters. Honk Honk Hodl is the name given to the group in reference to truckers’ honking horns and the bitcoin habit of hodling. On social media, the project is being referred as as a tactic to orange pill Canadian truckers.

This is a reference to the 1999 film The Matrix, in which a character must choose whether to take a red pill and wake up from the alternate reality they’ve been living in or stay sleeping. The term orange pill alludes to bitcoin buyers, with BTC standing for financial liberty and hope. The organisation is made up of four people. Greg Booth, Jeff Foss, and two individuals who go by the pseudonyms Nobody Cariboo and BTC Sessions are their names. Tally Coin, a platform that aims to empower users with new means of raising money for protestors, political groups, and other out-of-the-ordinary organisations, has developed its crypto crowdfunding campaign.

The following is said on the fundraiser page:

Bitcoin is a truly censorship-resistant method of communicating value, whereas legacy financial infrastructure can be politicised and clamped down on at times. Allowing your voices to be stifled and your financial sovereignty to be trampled on is not an option. Despite the fact that the fundraising page is only a few days old, more than $600,000 has already been raised for the truckers. Jesse Powell, the CEO of famous digital currency exchange Kraken, made an especially big donation. Powell is thought to have handed up to $43,000 in Bitcoin. In addition, he sent out the following message:

Fix the money, and the rest of the world will be fixed as well.. Put an end to the craziness. Honk, honk, honk, honk, honk, hon #FreedomConvoy2022.

Everyone Seemed To Be On Their Side

Give Send Go, a Christian fundraising site, has also received more than $4 million in donations for the protestors. The business explained in a statement: The time for political overreach, our fellow Canadians, has passed. We’re taking our struggle to the federal government’s doorstep, asking that any mandates against the people be repealed. According to GoFundMe, the campaign to gather money for the truckers violated its terms of service, and as a result, all donations were blocked.
