Francis Suarez Miami Mayor spoke on Bitcoin during the Bitcoin 2022 conference happening in his city. The Mayor is an ardent supporter of Bitcoin and has led various Bitcoin initiatives within his city and even state. Going a step forward, he received his salary in Bitcoin and even his employees have the option to do so.
Miami Mayor’s Bitcoin Vision: Vision for Bitcoin America 2024
He shares that he needs to frame a vision for the country. He further says the vision is simple and he calls it: Vision for Bitcoin America 2024. The mayor explains that he has three points, he describes them as:
He believes the country needs to elect pro-bitcoin candidates, saying that the next president of the United States must be a pro-bitcoin candidate.
Suarez points out that the federal legislation is at stake and it can either take the country into the next generation or further push it backward.
Suarez says one thing that the U.S must refrain itself from is ever agreeing with Russia and China on anything related to Bitcoin.
Continuing, he says that the second thing that the county needs to do is integrate every little aspect of the society.
Then, the mayor highlights the third point saying that the macro power of Bitcoin needs to be unleashed. He continues that Bitcoin holds the power to democratize and generate wealth for the poor and unbanked population of the country who get most affected by inflation.
Suarez points out that anyone today with a bank account is earning zero interest and the situation has worsened due to inflation. Metaphorizing the situation, he said someone is putting their hands in a bank account and taking out money since the purchasing power of fiat money in the country and around the world is constantly decreasing.
He further emphasized that the country as a whole needs to come together as a whole and grab this wonderful wealth-making opportunity so that the unfortunate in the country do not get left behind like always, whenever the government becomes an intermediary.
The pro-bitcoin mayor notes that the country needs to understand that through Bitcoin people can transmit money out of the traditional banking system and have a chance to break out of the clutches of socialist and communist regimes.
At last, Suarez emphasized that they want to create a world where there is “economic peace and prosperity.” He says that Bitcoin has proved to be a great factor worldwide.
He demands a “world of freedom.” A world where people are in charge of their destiny, “where their tomorrows are better than their yesterdays — and I plan to be a part of it,” he adds.
