eBay Entering NFT Space

EBay, an e-commerce mammoth is stepping into the NFT space — with an Apple from Wayne Gretzky, the ice hockey legend.

The organization declared that it has joined forces with OneOf, a Web3 platform, to reveal 13 digital collectibles featuring Wayne Gretzky doing one of his signature moves.

Wayne Gretzky stated in a statement that he is grateful to be featured on Sports Illustrated 40 years ago, which was an iconic moment of his life. He further added that he is honored to present these digital collectibles to his fans who have shown their support for more than a decade.

After Amazon, eBay is the biggest player in the market with a customer base of 142 Million. The organization acquired a 25% stake in Funko, a toy-making organization along with a consortium involving Chernin Group, Disney’s Bob Iger, and sports agent Rich Paul.

EBay’s Dawn Block stated that blockchain and NFT technology are groundbreaking concepts in collectible spaces and are witnessed as investment opportunities for pundits in the sector.

He further added that, via this collaboration with OneOf, eBay is now making coveted NFTs more available to the latest generation of collectors all over the globe.

Collaboration With OneOf

OneOf asserts itself as a “green” NFT project making use of energy-efficient blockchain tech. Crypto mining utilizes a heavy amount of power, and in a few scenarios, it can even consume power that can light up an entire country.

Lin Dai, a OneOf CEO, stated to CNBC that their software and eBay’s software will be blended in to offer a super easy NFT purchase experience for clients.

Around one-third of the eBay, clients utilize the mobile shopping application of the platform every month, making it the 3rd most well-liked application all over the US after Walmart and Amazon.

OneOf is also playing to drop more NFTs later this year after this drop featuring Wayne Gretzky. The organization stated that NFTs are priced at $10 each for every user.
