French Government Knighted Former CFTC Chair and known as ‘Crypto Dad’ for his keen support for crypto, Chris Giancarlo

Chris Giancarlo, who was known for his contribution during his tenure at the United States Commodity Futures Trading Commission as its chief and author of ‘CryptoDad: The Fight for the Future of Money,’ has now received the honor of French Knighthood. Former CFTC Head has been given the title of Chevalier, French for a ‘knight’ for his support and contribution in the crypto space. Giancarlo received the honor during a ceremony on Monday.

A letter from Philippe Étienne, Ambassador of France to the United States, to Chris Giancarlo noted that the honor of knighthood shows the great respect of French Authorities for Giancarlo’s understanding of financial markets and crypto finance potential. The French diplomat also presided over the ceremony where Giancarlo ranked for French knighthood.

In response to receiving such a high honor, Chris Giancarlo said that he feels so humble for receiving the awards. He added that it is especially satisfying since it happened in front of so many people who are dear to him including his government office and present colleagues, his beloved friends and family members.

Regarding the ceremony remarks, the former CFTC chief looked back to his time at the agency and praised its early support and contribution towards supporting the cryptocurrencies. Giancarlo said that their willingness to endure the political risk behind giving bitcoin futures permissions resulted in reducing the regulatory risk for legal trading and investment activities. Citing the current market crash, CryptoDad said that regardless of the ongoing crypto winter, he is sure that the digital tokens are the financial assets’ future.

During the ceremony of Giancarlo entering into the French order there were some prominent guests including Rostin Behnam, CFTC Chairperson and several other officials from the US regulatory agency. At Present, Giancarlo is working as a lawyer at an international law firm, Willie Farr & Gallagher, while also holding important positions like board and advisory posts at several crypto firms.

Giancarlo has yet another relation with France as he is descended from a French immigrant along with being a US citizen. He is also involved in a program of a bilingual elementary school known as the French American Academy.
