  • Microsoft has made a prime edit in its Embracing the Future section in its 10-K report.
  • The organization makes these changes annually before submitting it to the SEC.
  • The edits done this year contain some core changes in the document.

Core Changes In Microsoft 10-K Report

Microsoft 10-K reports are submitted annually to the Securities and Exchanges Commission, where the organization makes major edits during every submission. This also indicates how the organization sees the future and how its vision is evolving every year as the technology and perspectives are advancing.

The beginning section of this document says ‘Embracing the Future’ got prime edits this year. It also brings the word metaverse into the filing this year. We can officially say now that something really big is brewing inside the organization. This section also shows the future vision of the tech giant.

Microsoft focuses primarily on Mixed Reality instead of AR and VR, as MR blends both the concepts here. The HoloLens headsets are the clear example of this. But this time the organization decided to include metaverse in the document alongside traces of the term ‘Mixed Reality’ somewhere in the document.

The Word Play

This document summarizes the key aspects of the organization’s work. And the people in charge of this document use the words very carefully. Because you know, every word counts. The Embracing Our Future started as ‘Our Vision’ containing around 150 words, which eventually increased to 300 this year.

Since Microsoft has acquired Activision Blizzard for a whopping 69 Billion USD, many believe that this has something to do with the metaverse. And these changes in the document may affirm the fact that, there’s something big brewing regarding the development of the metaverse.

However, there’s no information on any metaverse development by Microsoft. Nvidia, the leading GPU manufacturer announced its Omniverse back in 2021 during a press release. The CEO of the organization said at that time that this notion has the potential of bringing different virtual worlds together. Making the actual vision for metaverse, a possibility.

Both the organizations have worked closely during the years, and it is possible that if Microsoft is really working on metaverse, then it may utilize the services offered by Nvidia.
