At the forthcoming MTV Video Music Awards, hip-hop icons Snoop Dogg and Eminem will perform their most recent track, “From the D 2 the LBC” (VMAs). The Otherside metaverse and the BAYC NFTs will serve as inspiration for the performance.

There are still more specifics to be revealed about this performance. In June, the Bored Ape NFTs and Eminem x Snoop Dogg joint album was released. The two rappers appear in this collaboration’s partially animated video on occasion as Bored Ape comic book avatars.

Gaming platform Animoca Brands and Yuga Labs’ BAYC aND NFT investment are working together on Otherside. The international rap artists are scheduled to give Otherside public recognition through the VMAs stage makeover for their brand-new joint tune, “From the D 2 the LBC,” in collaboration with Otherside’s founder Yuga Labs. The VMAs also established a “Best metaverse performance” category to its annual awards, with contenders Justin Bieber, Rift Tour, and Twenty One Pilots, in an effort to emphasize the need for more acknowledgment of metaverse performances.

The VMAs hope to exploit the metaverse to boost their dwindling viewership. The number of viewers for the awards show decreased from 12.4 million in 2011 to 12.4 million. The NFT collection is referenced in the music video for the song by Eminem and Snoop Dogg. Snoop Dogg recently appeared in the animated video BAYC by Esther Anaya for the EDM tune Bored Apes and other NFTs. Eminem also paid 123.45 ETH for a set of hip-hop clothing from Bored Ape.

The “Otherside” performance by Snoop and Eminem, according to the promoters, will be a once-in-a-lifetime event. Two months ago, they released the music video for “From the D to the LBC,” which shows 2D animations of their Bored Ape NFTs but no metaverse footage.

Since its debut, “From the D to the LBC” has been a resounding success for the rappers as well as for the developing craze of music videos with Bored Ape themes. Over 46 million people have watched the “D to the LBC” YouTube video, which has also been nominated for a VMA for “Best Hip-Hop Song.” The song has received close to 25 million streams on Spotify.
