There is a new beer in the market called the Solana beer. Dubbed as Solana Summer Shandy, the beverage is launched today only. But, as suggested by the name, it isn’t the product of Solana Foundation or Solana Labs, its core network contributors. Solana has however launched Solana Smartphone and Solana IRL.

Then, who is the creator of the latest beer? barrelDAO, a distillery and brewery governed by the users. Currently, limited quantities of Solana Summer Shandy are available. To be precise, there are only 333 total 16-packs of beer. A Solana NFT represents each of them. The NFTs can be bought today only and then from Monday, August 29, it could be redeemed to get the beer.

BarrelDAO first wanted to launch the sale earlier on August 27th on Magic Eden, the top Solana NFT marketplace. But couldn’t due to some issues. At the current prices, each piece costs approx. $45 (1.35 SOL). The prices also include the United Kingdom, United States and Australia.

It is also interesting to note the latest beverage represents Solana in more than one way. The can also features Mark Lauthier’s original artwork which contained references from Solana-based NFT projects with specific avatars.

The buyers on a closer will easily find references from Solana NFT projects such as Okay Bears, Catalina Whale Mixer, John Lê’s “The First Edition,” Degenerate Ape Academy,  DeGods, Cets on Creck, Catalina Whale Mixer,

Barrel Labs co-founder Dave Goldman said in an interview that barrelDAO is the owner of 20 individual NFTs referenced on the cans. 23 of them however appeared through licensing agreements reached with individual NFTs holders.

In other news, Galaxy Digital published a research report indicating the  Bored Apes license especially includes contradictions about IP ownership. Further alleging, it reveals Proof, creator of Moonbirds and Yuga Labs, are one of the Web3 builders who misled NFT owners of misleading NFT owners regarding their extent of IP rights.
