Sky Mavis Focusing on Esports

Axie Infinity is one of the most admired crypto games to this date. In 2021, the play-to-earn crypto game left the other blockchain games to dust to stand at the top. Recently, Axie Infinity creators, Sky Mavis, have launched a $2.4 Million fund for e-sports. Method MetaGuild became the initial winner for this grant. Origins serves as the gateway for the organization’s esports initiative.

The company has pledged to disperse 160,000 AXS ($2.4 Million) during Q4 2022 to Q2 2023. Sky Mavis will distribute the funds according to a planned structure ranging from major tournaments across the globe to local level championships.

Major tournaments will include a $200,001 to $100,000 prize pool with large events, online qualifiers and an ample amount of physical presence. Minor tournaments include $50,001 to $200,000 prize pools with lesser events, qualifiers and physical presence. Other tournaments involve online leagues and local level tournaments with considerably lower prize pools. Domestic events will help in shedding light on the emerging regions.

Recently, Sky Mavis launched the latest series of products for Axie Infinity during AxieCon in Barcelona, Spain. New in-game items involve accessories for the avatars, new mini-game for the Landowners and more. The company revealed that Level 2 parts (Upgraded) will be stronger with brand new eye-catchy visuals.

The organization will bring its Project K – Land to the ecosystem, which will serve as a place to hangout for the Axie Avatars or users. Players can treat the Land as NFTs and use them in the Axie Infinity: Raylights. Sky Mavis is working on another project focused on crafting in-game items, which the users can sell to the Lunacians.

Axie Infinity got a huge blow during March 2022 when the hackers attacked the ecosystem to vanish $540 Million worth of crypto assets. The event became the second largest hack in the history of the cryptosphere. The creators announced that they will compensate the hack victims and restart the Ronin Bridge, which acted as a gateway for hackers to enter the system.
