Star Atlas Gaming Project
The demo of Star Atlas introduces Asha, a Pilot and Captain of the Council of Peace. It provides players an option to summon and watch their NFT ships on launching pads in the “Showroom.”
Star Atlas is a next-gen gaming metaverse on Solana that is built using Unreal Engine 5. The lore of this game is based on three factions struggling for resources, territorial conquest and political domination in the year 2620.
Atlas add a new feature of Star Atlas DAO (decentralized autonomous organization) that is interwoven with the governance layer. It will bring the galactic economy and its Marketplace together, as the players can lock their Atlas tokens for up to five years, which is similar to the recently announced Polis Locking.
This game project was first introduced in 2020 and pulled in loyal fans. And the fans further bore ship-making clubs and dedicated News sites that were based on the game. But by spending nearly $200 Million, estimated by Star Atlas CEO, Michael Wagner, on NFTs for a game, it was not rolled out for another five to seven years.
The Recent Debate
In the end of July 2022, Wagner and Illuvium Co-founder, Kieran Warwick had a debate over the sustainability of the project following a Twitter spat in which Warwick said Star Atlas was “gonna burn the fuck out of retail.”
Even so, Star Atlas will continuously develop and release further gameplay iteratively via modules. And aiming for a full Showroom with flourished functionality release in the fourth quarter of this year.
