Centibillionaire and Tesla CEO Elon Musk is quite known for his strange takes and controversial statements over even the sensitive issues. Recently Musk reported to put his thoughts over two of the current issues which are sensitive and crucial from a geopolitical standpoint.

In a recent interview with Financial Times, Musk brought up the idea to resolve the burning issue between China and Taiwan. He recommended forming a special administrative zone for Taiwan which he also agreed would not be acceptable for so many people.

Tesla CEO further said that such a zone could be possible and he thinks that the arrangement is likely to be relatively more gentle than Hong Kong’s regime.

Musk suggested the solution in response to the question about China, during the interview. The country becomes crucial for Tesla given it accounts for almost 50% of the overall global supplies of Tesla’s production. The electric car giant also has one of six gigafactories in Shanghai.

According to the Financial Times report, Musk thinks that there are high chances of a conlift’s escalation over the matter of Taiwan. He showed concern over the after effects in such a scenario considering the heavy investments of companies like Tesla and Apple within the country which would be ending up affecting the global economy. Musk estimated the number to be around 30% in terms of hit to the global economy.

On the question of China, Musk also added that the government also asked for assurance from him to prohibit the offerings of Starlink—internet services under his company SpaceX—within the region. He cited the disapproval of China regarding the action of a company to roll out internet services in Ukraine.

Starlink provided the services in the embattling country to avoid the cutting-off of internet services within the region by Russia.

According to the Guardian, China has been claiming Taiwan as part of its provinces and also affirmed to take the country under his control. However, Taiwan does not buy the claims of China and says the country’s future is subject only to be decided by its 23 million people.

On October 4th, 2022, Tesla CEO also posted on Twitter about the permanent surrender of Crimea from Ukraine to Russia. He said to hold new elections and referendums within the region under the supervision of the United Nations to decide the fate of the territory under Russian control. Meanwhile he suggested Ukraine take a neutral stance over the issue.

Musk received a whole lot of criticism for his statements over the currently ongoing burning issue. Many people, mostly from Ukraine, called out against him on Twitter. Meanwhile the post of Tesla CEO itself did not support his advice where in the poll, approx 59.1% people voted for a no rejecting his proposal.
