Coinbase Mailed all its customers the Pepe coin is a hatred symbol, that has made Twitter flood with #deletecoinbase. To respond to it the Chief legal officer apologized and said they screwed up.

Coinbase calls Pepe meme coin a hate symbol

Coinbase recently performed a shameful deed. All the customers of Coinbase were mailed saying that the “Pepe” meme coin, a frog meme, is a symbol of hate. The mail described and evaluated this statement deeply insulting the frog it has and disrespecting the Pepe coin. The Pepe coin is self-opted by alt-right groups. The community of Pepe meme coin expressed their rage regarding the same this week. 

Twitter flooded with the hashtag #deletecoinbase just a couple of hours later the email was sent. The hashtag became trendy on the Twitter sidebar. The hashtag had 14000 comments asking users to boycott the exchange on coinbase. 

Looking at the rage and boycott Coinbase received after the e-mail, the chief legal officer of Coinbase took a step. Paul Grewal, the chief legal officer of Coinbase, looking at the hatred it was receiving took himself to Twitter. He apologized for their behavior and mentioned in a tweet, “We screwed up and we are sorry.”

Florida bans CBDC

A piece of shocking news surfaced recently regarding the United States. It says that Ron Desantis, the Florida Governor has signed a bill that bans the use of CBDC in the province. 

The new law restricts money within Florida’s Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) to be used as United States federal CBDC. Not only this, the United States asks other states as well to pass laws and ban CBDC in their states. It has not just banned money from Florida UCC to be used as CBDC but also banned the use of CBDCs issued by foreign governments. 

DeSantis stated that while doing the White House studies of the new financial technology, he was triggered to take this action. During the studies he found CBDC to be very unhealthy for the province in the longer run. He said that the law will come into action ASAP later mentioning the date July 1. 

Ordinal’s Face Controversy

Ordinals, recently, are a main topic of controversy debating whether they are good or bad for Bitcoin. These debates are very common in Bitcoin communities these days. Every development or technology comes with an opposition. 

When the ordinals were released in January 2023, the opponents were ready. Soon after its release started pointing out the flaws like slow speed, raised cost of transactions etc.

While there also were people who supported the Ordinals. They claimed that Ordinals bring with them increased opportunity, improved decentralization and allowed them to practice freedom of expression. They also argued that Ordinals allow them to use their creativity in wider horizons. It allows them to add text or images to the code of Satoshi, the smallest unit of Bitcoin.
