Jordan Byne, the award-winning filmmaker, believes Blockchain technology can help Hollywood in places where it fails to reach. It can also give the creators a better idea of the current landscape of the cinema.

Jordan Bayne on Blockchain Technology and Hollywood Movies

Bayne told one of the media houses during the inaugural MetaCannes Festival in France that the new technology, such as Web3, offers something that traditional Hollywood offers to fail.

After the award-winning director invested in crypto in 2015, she has been one of the leading members of the Film3 movement and founded the FilmSquad media collective. The Film Squad enlightens on how indie filmmakers can use the blockchain for their benefit.

Since its creation in February 2021, the organization has hosted more than 350 shows. Bayne stated that by collecting the experience of many women engaged in the film industry, they’re exploring the technology’s reach in finance, distribution, and ownership.

Further stating the advantages of Web3 Bayne, anybody can own the whole thing with their IP. You can involve your community in every step; studios won’t be necessary.

The Film Squad

The award-winning director explained that one of the advantages of the Squad is using the internet to bond with like-minded people.

Bayne added that she built the Film Squad to amplify and showcase others. She feels Web3 can offer acceptance and inclusion of any artist.

Bayne founded the Film Squad after encountering a few points as a woman and LGBTQIA member working in the films. Hence after recognizing the pain points, the community was founded to serve marginalized communities like Black people or the LGBTQIA community members.

Bayne said that the Squad’s work mirrors her ambitions as a filmmaker. She aims to unfurl stories that do not come to light.

The award-winning director further explained that as a filmmaker, she has always told stories about those in the shadows whose voice goes unheard. She referred to a previous example from her work, “Red Flags.”

She said that her movie Red Flags is a “heavy hitter” and added Web3 enables people to revolve around the type of content that they’d like to watch, and it will help marginalized groups to have their own media representation.

She described Web3 as another mode in which voices can be put out.
