Australian Blockchain Week (ABW) 2023 is a five-day event from June 26 to 30, 2023 happening across Australian cities for crypto enthusiasts. The sessions would range from foundational basics of the technology to sectoral deep dives into the worldwide implications of the emerging technology.
Australian Blockchain Week 2023 – Powered by Blockchain Australia
Day one: Sydney will be busy with very informative, facilitating engaging discussions with industry leaders. The first day will be in Sydney and will provide attendees with exciting networking opportunities and expert insights into the ever-changing digital asset industry. The topics to be covered on June 26 include The Evolution of Banking, The Future of Digital Currency Exchanges, Revolutionising Payment Systems, and Strategies for Navigating Disruption.
Day two: National, on June 27, 2023, will celebrate Web3 Fringe Festival and Industry Day. It would include interactive workshops and experiences featuring NFT Creators Lab and Blockchain-Based Gaming. Furthermore, it will focus on providing attendees with a Hands-On Experience to play, explore, and build using the exciting technology.
Day 3: Brisbane. on June 28, 2023, will focus on Web3 Innovation and Growth. It will create the world’s largest classroom for Web3. This day will be dedicated to careers, entrepreneurship, education, innovation, capital raising, and startups. Furthermore, it will address topics ranging from Builders, Protocols, Careers, Startups, etc.
Day four – Global, on June 29, 2023, will cover International Perspectives. It will feature a panel discussion followed by keynote speeches. The regulatory landscape will be explored and discussed on this day for Asia, Australia, Europe, and America.
Furthermore, it will focus on a Global Regulatory Framework for the crypto industry and what the U.S. digital asset regulations would look like. It will also explore questions of how to enhance consumer protection and define the regulatory perimeter in Australia. Attendees would try to understand the tax implications of Web3, along with better ways to adhere to Anti-Money Laundering (AML)/Combating Financing Terrorism (CFT) standards.
Day 5: Melbourne, on June 30, 2023, will provide attendees with a glimpse of big ideas driven by the amalgamation of technology, gaming, music, AI, and the Metaverse. Topics would also include brainstorming big ideas and the Great DAO Debate. The official afterparty would eventually follow the event.
The list of speakers includes prominent names in the industry like Katie Knight from Investment NSW, Caitlin Long from Ananti Financial Group, Gracy Chen from Bitget, Paul Stonham from ASX, the Commissioner of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, Hester M. Pierce, and an MLA from the Parliament of Western Australia, Hannah Beazley.
What’s Happening on Day One
On day one, Michale Shaulov, CEO of Fireblocks, spoke on Web3, tokenization, and the payment system, along with shedding light on the future of the Blockchain in Australia. How can the big financial institutions operating in the country harness the power of the technology and help fuel its adoption? This was a question that was discussed on the first day.
Shaulov praised the country’s four big banks for having a dedicated team to build technology solutions that could solve the current banking problems. ANZ Bank became a pioneer in the issuance of bank-issued stablecoin A$DC. National Australian Bank (NAB) became the first bank to complete cross-border, multi-currency stablecoin settlement. This step circumvented SWIFT, a huge step.
