Guild of Guardians is a mobile Roguelite Squad RPG. In this game players have to build their dream team called “Guardians.” They have to compete in a guild to earn epic, tradable rewards. It is in a pre-alpha testing stage and a limited demo has been launched which is called “The Beautiful Corner.” In the pre-alpha state, it shows the capability of an addictive casual mobile game with NFTs and crypto tokens.
Chirs Clay, Director of Guild of Guardians said that the pre-alpha game is designed to present the two basic loops of dungeon combat and crafting. According to him, this is a perfect game for multitaskers and those who don’t want to give their full attention to the mobile. It is designed for hyperactive people who always need to feel like they are progressing on something.
Characteristics of the Pre-Alpha Game
The game is focused on the core conflict between the hero Guardian and the evil Dreed who is going to destroy the world. Immutable games will feature NFTs for player-owned characters, pets, and other in-game items across Ethereum and Immutable X, the scaling network.
Guild of Guardians also teamed with popular esports clubs including Team Liquid and Cloud9 to release the themed NFT characters. The pre-alpha stage does not include tutorials, missions, and crafting items like repairing items; instead it provides forging and leveling up in dungeons.
The pre-alpha mobile game has appealing 3D graphics. The audio is cinematic but lacks to provide the needed clues perhaps to better serve players who mute while playing. The game offers broader 2D dungeon maps which clarifies geographical clues of where the fighting will take place.
The dungeon fighting experience in the Guild of Guardians gets interesting for competitive players once the user can add multiple Guardians to the party. The user also has to consider which runes to pick.
Standard Dungeon consists of 20 rooms each with different options generated at the end of each dungeon room. Clay said that the hard dungeon will have 30 rooms and for hardcore players there is the option of unlimited dungeons.
The limited playtest does not provide with the healing of characters which is fine due to the rougelite classification. The current crafting and the forging loop is intuitive. Even without the tutorials, one can make basic items after winning the materials by clearing the dungeon rooms.
Summary
Guild of Guardians can be played for free, without any spending. It is under development and the release is scheduled for Q4 2023. Unlike in hardcore PC RPGs, MMORPG is leveling up fast. It is billed as a companion mobile game, which means it is designed for casual play. It is designed for those who do not want to spend hours on the PC and can spare a few minutes on their phones for such activities.
