Bitcoin (BTC) Caused GTA 6 Trailer To Be Released Early

The much-awaited title by Rockstar Games, Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6, was given an early release thanks to a leaker who leaked it beforehand. Interestingly, the video contained a Bitcoin (BTC) watermark. However, the motive behind the inclusion of the cryptocurrency’s logo remains unclear. As of now, the official trailer has garnered 117 Million views on video streaming platform YouTube.

Crypto Integration Is Nowhere Close to GTA

It was rumored that the upcoming title will have a crypto element in the game. However, a digital asset attorney, John Montague, cleared the air with his statement explaining that gaming powerhouse like Rockstar Games is unlikely to integrate or issue a native cryptocurrency in their games.

He believes regulatory crackdown by the United States securities watchdog, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), might induce fear among users. In July, the government agency labeled cryptocurrencies like Cosmos (ATOM), The Sandbox (SAND), Axie Infinity (AXS), and more as securities. The move caused a considerable downturn in the market.

Blockchain is a topic that is usually avoided by traditional gamers. A few games have felt gamers’ wrath on bringing this idea to traditional games. Companies like Ubisoft and SEGA have tried integrating non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in their projects before. However, backlash from the community coerced them to wrap up the initiative.

Gamers believe integration of blockchain assets like cryptocurrencies or NFTs will only do more harm than betterment. It may entirely furnish games with finances and take away the touch of entertainment from them. New entrants then are likely to play games for the sake of money and not the game.

The leak containing the Bitcoin watermark is highly unlikely to indicate an intrusion of crypt assets of any kind. It may simply be an act of garnering engagements for the user’s social media account. Now that the official trailer is up and running, GTA enthusiasts are looking forward to the game’s release which is reportedly scheduled for 2025.

Several details were initially missed by the fans, however, it wasn’t until online publications started shooting articles that pointed them out. The game storyline is set in the infamous Vice City, a location featured in the 2002 game of the same.

However, the graphics have come too far and developers have made the map look ridiculously large. It could hit the size of around 30 square miles. The game also featured social media applications being used by the characters which may indicate a focus on growing social media influence among people.

As of now, GTA 5 remains the top seller for Rockstar Games. It has sold nearly 155 Million copies globally with numbers still rising, although slow now. Apart from the GTA series, the company has also focused on the Wild West stories like Red Dead Redemption whose sequel has sold over 30 Million copies. Other popular games by the organization include GTA: San Andreas, Manhunt, L.A. Noire, and more.
