Turbo is a memecoin on Ethereum’s ERC-20 platform that is community-driven and guided by GPT-4. Its theme is centered around a toad named Quantum Leap.

The project’s unique partnership between Australian artist Rhett (Dashwood) Mankind and artificial intelligence brought it to life in April 2023. It serves as an example of how AI can aid in creating innovative projects in the Web3 space, like ChatGPT.

The History of Turbo

Rhett Mankind, the creator of Turbo, is a digital artist from Australia with experience in commercial art and design.

He is an award-winning digital artist who has exhibited his works in top galleries and auction houses, including Sotheby’s and SuperRare. Mankind is also an NFT collector and has been teaching Digital and Crypto Art for years.

He has a devoted following on YouTube, with one of the things that set him apart being that he has no knowledge of code or smart contracts.

Turbo’s journey began as a digital performance art project and an extension of Mankind’s exploration of AI. He sought the assistance of OpenAI’s AI chatbot GPT-4 to create a cryptocurrency token.

With step-by-step instructions and lines of code provided by GPT-4, Mankind was able to launch the cryptocurrency. He also received valuable input from his Twitter followers throughout the process.

Though smaller than other online communities supporting memecoins like Dogecoin and Shiba Inu Coin, Turbo’s token holders took several initiatives, including listing the coin on Dextools, setting up a Telegram chat, and running an art contest that incorporates the token.

Token Development ith the Help of Community

The community played a significant role in the creation and success of the Turbo meme coin, involved at various stages of the coin’s development.

The name “TurboToadToken” and the logo, an orange cartoon toad wearing a space helmet, were both chosen with input from Mankind’s Twitter followers.

The Twitter community also assisted Mankind in addressing various coding errors while creating the token. They encouraged him to continue the project after the initial launch failed due to a malicious bot purchasing nearly all of the tokens.

After the token’s launch, Mankind renounced ownership of the smart contract and made the mascot freely available to anyone, putting the control of the project into the community’s hands.

The Future of Turbo

Turbo’s success story is incomplete without mentioning the financial gain it brought Mankind. With Turbo’s meteoric rise in the crypto market, Mankind went from investing $69 to becoming a multi-millionaire, on paper at least.

The future vision for the project is to fully decentralize it. Since the launch in late April, Rhett Mankind has mostly stepped back from the project. He made Quantum Leap, the mascot, available for anyone to use through a Creative Commons Zero license and renounced ownership of the smart contract so he can no longer alter the code.

Summary

Turbo is a memecoin on Ethereum’s ERC-20 platform guided by GPT-4, centered around a toad called Quantum Leap. Despite being smaller than other memecoins, Turbo’s token holders have taken several initiatives, including listing the coin on Dextools, setting up a Telegram chat, and running an art contest that incorporates the token.
