To impact fair competition and get benefits, the players identified a way to collaborate with players, to manipulate queues, and target solo players. Teaming and account sharing helped several Web3 gamers to target solo players, and win the game unfairly.

Additionally, players were found to indulge in account-sharing schemes in which the same account was accessed from multiple devices showcasing misleading benefits from collaboration.

To rank higher in the leaderboard and access early-access gameplay events, individuals tried these strategies.

“This includes but is not limited to sharing login credentials, giving access to in-game characters, items, or progress to others, or using another person’s account”, the company statement added.

These strategies have violated the company’s terms and conditions and were detected using the system. Warning the players, Shrapnel stated that individuals found to be violating the terms will be removed from the STX leaderboard and will be permanently banned from the plan.

Besides, the platform inspired players to detect such scams and inform the company to create a fair gaming environment. Focusing on the zero-tolerance policy, Shrapnel has decided to remove and permanently ban the rule violators.

The company urged players to identify and inform about such scams to rectify all issues before the platform went live. Once it goes live, individuals will be able to extract NFTs and other digital assets. News of banning players permanently from the platform raised concerns among the Shrapnel community.

The player’s concern

One of the community members raised concern stating that the decision penalizes the players that prefer playing team matches.

In response to this, the gaming platform explained that users caught in the unfair game will only be removed from the leaderboards, and remaining of the players can continue their games with friends. The statement delivered some relief to the players.

Restricting players is not new to Shrapnel, the platform in September 2023, decided to ban users in the US from cashing out in-game assets owing to regulatory complications with the SEC. Still, there were no restrictions for players from Europe and Asia.

Shrapnel, a blockchain-based shooter game will be launched in 2025 with early access in 2024. The platform focuses on extractions, multi-stage sessions, and a high-stakes event that promotes risk-taking and rewards skills. The platform always wanted to develop competitive players along with approachable ways of spending time.
